How do I build a website using BoldGrid to replace a standalone site

I currently have a website that was built and is maintained using Dreamweaver. All updates are made on a local computer and uploaded. To make future editing easier, I would like to build a new site using BoldGrid/Word Press that will eventually replace the existing standalone site. How do I start the process of downloading the BoldGrid software and building a new site without disrupting the existing site? I would like to lean the software, build the site, and once comfortable, replace the current site with the new BoldGrid/Wordpress site.
