Thanks for the question about creating a subdomain that stays on the server in spite of a re-directed main domain. It actually really depends on your re-direct rule. You can create a subdomain and then change where it is coming from in cPanel. Follow the directions in the link for step-by-step instructions on building a subdomain. Be aware that you do need to be aware of the re-direct rule that you have in place as it is possible that it affects the subdomains that are under the re-directed domain.
