Strangest Joomla 2.5 (maybe SQL?) issue
First noticed on 8 August 2012
This will be a fairly long email, but please perservere with me here folks.
I have got the most strangest of issues here folks. I will post this message to both the Joomla.org site and the hosting service support crew.
My plan is to delete the article completely and recreate it from scratch...... my concern is that this might be happening in other areas of the website.
Here goes on the details..... and trust me... I am not insane.... (though getting there because of this issue!)
I am using the following (taken from the Joomla System Information screen):
PHP Built On: Linux biz107.inmotionhosting.com 2.6.18-274.7.1.el5 #1 SMP Thu Oct 20 16:21:01 EDT 2011 x86_64
Database Version: 5.0.92-community-log
Database Collation: utf8_general_ci
PHP Version: 5.2.17
Web Server: Apache
WebServer to PHP Interface: cgi
Joomla! Version Joomla! 2.5.6 Stable [ Ember ] 19-June-2012 14:00 GMT
Joomla! Platform Version: Joomla Platform 11.4.0 Stable [ Brian Kernighan ] 03-Jan-2012 00:00 GMT
User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0.1 FirePHP/0.7.1
I have an article which displays a YouTube video in an iframe. The video always displays, every time, and correctly..... notwithstanding the issue below.
I have included the FULL code of the article at the bottom of this note.
While the actual video always displays, without problem........ sometimes, when I go into the article in edit mode (in the Joomla back-end), the actual code for the video, (it includes the 'p' and 'iframe' at the start and end of course... I couldnt put the actual html into this note)
width="860" height="680" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4s3eq9v-QKI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true"
sometimes dissapears, and then when I go into it again, it magically re-appears.......
This happens inconsistently, it can be there 10 times in a row, then will dissapear a few times, then re-appear....... Remember, the video ALWAYS displays correctly on the website irrespective of this disappearing act!)
When it is present (or absent), on the screen.... if I refresh the screen (F5), this makes no difference.....
It is the most strangest thing I have ever seen..... I have certainly never seen, nor heard of this happening anywhere else.
Trust me..... I am not going mad, nor do I believe in little green men (well, I do acknowledge the possibility of some extra-terrestrial intelligence, but that is another story :-) :-) )
Nor am I drinking that special tea, nor am I smoking wacky weed...... This is just the craziest thing I have ever come accross.
What am I missing here????? (apart from a few brain cells destroyed by trying to get to the bottom of this!)
Any pointers, ideas, suggestions, thoughts, flames, magic spells :-) .... anything at all would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the total code of the article as it should always appear:
Business Security Consultancy Solutions (wrapped in H1 tags)
This video is actually hosted on YouTube.
(wrapped in p tags)
width="860" height="680" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4s3eq9v-QKI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true">
(wrapped in p and iframe tags)
Help......

We have seen something like this here when switching between the WYSIWYG editor and the code editor. Is that what you are doing? If you are switching, which editor are you using (JCE or tinymce)?
Best Regards,
