Problem with automated action in Prestashop!

I have two Prestashop stores in my account, the primary one (1.0.6.9) is working perfectly but the second one (1.6.0.14) does not send confirmation email to the customers after placing the order and also doesn't decrease the sold item quantity from the stock. I can receive and send support mail to the customers and even a test mail to another email address within my server but it just doesn't send out the confirmation mails automatically!!
