My php code is showing directly inside of excuting

I am trying to invoke a php code from a html form by giving after I open my html from htdocs folder Iand click on submit it is showing me the php script directly I want the server to excute the script rather than showing me

Hello, Thank you for contacting us about your PHP contact form issue. I advise checking your SMTP settings to make sure that they are configured properly. Likewise, you can follow your mail logs to check for specific errors. However, if you're on a shared server then I suggest you contact Live Support so we can check those logs for you.
