Prestashop New Product creation issues

USING DEFAULT BOOTSTRAP PRESTASHOP THEME.........NOT A PURCHASED THEME, JUST THE STANDARD ONE.
Problem with known problem. Created a new item (Large Fabric Pet carrier). Should be associated with the category (Pet Carriers). Unfortunately, when trying to associate the new product with the Pet Carriers, the category tree will not show up under ASSOCIATIONS....nothing but the HOME is there. Upon researching this I found out that it is a well known bug. I need help recovering the category tree under ASSOCIATIONS.

LARGE SOFT SIDED FABRIC PET CARRIER NEEDS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH (PET CARRIERS). I need help with this and am giving you the login for my back office. I can proceed no further with creating new items until this is figured out. Please help me.

Hi Bruce, Sorry for the problem with setting up the Categories for your product. The reason you're not seeing it is because your category is set as a root category. You'd have to change the default menu per their documentation. I created a test category and set its root as HOME. You can create a new category and then assign it to the home category. After that you should be able to associate that product to the Check out the help files provided in PrestaShop - they should help you get that set correctly. It's been awhile since I worked in PrestaShop, so it took me some time to figure out why you couldn't assign the product to the categories.
