Can I use fantastico to install the latest version of Joomla?

I see where I can use Fantastico to install Joomla 1.5 but Joomla is currently on version 2.5 - is there a way to install the latest version - or a valid reason why I should install several versions back?

Simplest way - install 1.7 with Fantastico (which is now available through Fantastico.)

After installation, log in to the administrative back end. Go to Extension Manager, then click on the update tab. Click on "find updates", and you will then be presented with the option to upgrade to the latest 2.5 version. Click to update and you are done.

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. Fantastico does not contain Joomla 2.5 currently so you will not be able to install it through Fantastico. However, we have some great tutorials on Joomla 2.5, so here's one on installing it:
